GLOBAL EDUCATION ASSESSMENT TOOLS
Here you will find several assessment tools to allow you to evaluate the degree to which you have created a globally-minded classroom and ways to continue to integrate global thinking and digital literacy into your curriculum.
WELL NOW WHAT?
If you have gone through the Asia Society guides, watched the videos, browsed through the digital resources, you may be feeling a little overwhelmed. Where to start? How do I know I am creating a space that fosters global thinking? I believe that the best educators see themselves as teacher-researchers, always rethinking and reimagining their lessons and daily practices, seeing all moments in the classroom as an opportunity to grow. I encourage you to continually assess your units and lessons using global education rubrics. You don't have to completely start your curriculum from scratch. Consider looking at a single lesson or unit through a global thinking lens, then take some time to go back after teaching. Did your students investigate the world? Were your students able to recognize perspectives different from their own? Were students given the tools and opportunity to communicate their ideas? Did your students take action as a result of teaching this unit or lesson?

RESOURCES FOR ASSESSING GLOBAL LEARNING
GLOBALLY COMPETENT LEARNING CONTINUUM
This is an online assesment tool that identifies the dispositions, knowledge, and skills that educators need to teach students from diverse backgrounds and prepare all students to thrive in a global society. The GCLC is a tool for self-reflection, used by educators wishing to reflect on their own level of global competence and to learn the characteristics included in higher levels to advance along the continuum.
ASIA SOCIETY ALL GRADES GLOBAL LEADERSHIP OUTCOMES
This is a comprehensive guide by Asia Society that provides rubrics for grades 3-12 written in "I Can" statements. This provides great support in assessing the degree to which you are fostering global thinking in your classroom.
ELEMENTS OF A GLOBAL SCHOOL
This comprehensive checklist can be used to assess the degree to which your entire school and district are already aligned with global teaching practices.
ALL ABOUT PLCS
Professional Learning Communities or PLCs are a great way to assess your school environment as well as your own classroom. I will admit that I have seen learning communities succeed and fail, but I think the key is finding a group of like-minded teachers in your building to go through the texts, give each other feedback, participate in professional development and hopefully begin to have a larger voice in your community. This article gives some helpful tips for beginning a PLC.
GLOBAL EDUCATION CERTIFICATES AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Global education certificates are diploma distinctions given by a school, district, or state to recognize graduates who have demonstrated that they have knowledge and skills needed for life and work in a global economy and interconnected world. If you really want to fully transform your class into a community of global citizens, fully integrating this work into your curriculum, I would look into getting a Global Education Certificate or other professional development opportunities in your area.
