GLOBAL EDUCATION AND GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP
What is Global Education? What does it mean to be a Global Citizen?
To me, being a Global Citizen means as educators, we teach curricula that views ourselves as an equal part of a global community, that includes a myriad of voices from all over the world, that asks students to fight for justice for all beings. To engage in Global Education is to concretely demonstrate to students that we all all connected, and that our actions or lack of action have tangible effects on life everywhere. It means believing that climate change, systemic racism, extreme poverty along with countless imbalances can be ended if enough people take action.
It means learning about the systemic causes — lack of equal opportunity, education, access to food, health care, and clean water, and being inspired to take action.
And it means knowing that when we use our voices together, it can inspire lasting change for all beings around the world. Learn more below and feel free to use this slideshow in your own class!

It is not lost on me that I took a course that had an intense focus on online learning tools right before the COVID-19 pandemic For this reason, these resources should be helpful for teachers, regardless if they have bought into Global Teaching.
GLOBAL EDUCATION ASSESSMENT TOOLS

ABOLITIONIST TEACHING
Based on the Writing and Teachings of Bettina L. Love
"Abolitionist Teaching is the practice of working in solidarity with communities of color while drawing on the imagination, creativity, refusal (re)membering, visionary thinking, healing, rebellious spirit, boldness, determination, and subversiveness of abolitionists to eradicate injustice in and outside of schools."
Bettina L. Love

HOW TO CREATE A CLASSROOM CENTERED AROUND JUSTICE
Here are a number of resources to help you on you pedagogical journey into Abolitionist Teaching. As you develop anti-racist units and lessons, I ask that you submit them to the Educators For AntiRacism database.
Soon, the database will be online sharing lessons from teachers all over the world doing this work, but they need teachers to submit!!
