Like all of you, I am also here to learn and examine my own biases, acculturation, white privilege, and pedagogy. I believe that the line between teacher and student is thin, maybe non-existent, and if I am truly committing to abolitionist teaching, then I must always consider myself a learner, an educator always trying to grow and transform. I must critically examine all my practices to create classrooms where BIPOC students are seen, heard, and provided a curriculum that seeks to disrupt and dismantle white supremacy. For this reason, I will try to continually write and post about my own experiences in anti-racist teaching, in the classroom with students, in meetings and relationships with staff and parents, and in personal and professional development classes, conferences, and dialogues.
